Colorado Christian University invites applicants for a full-time position of Assistant Professor of Old Testament and Biblical Archaeology in the School of Theology of the College of Undergraduate Studies.
The Assistant Professor of Old Testament and Biblical Archaeology in the School of Theology of the College of Undergraduate Studies may be expected to teach both survey and upper-division courses in Old Testament, Hebrew, and courses supporting a new minor in Biblical Archaeology.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Teach a standard load of 24 semester hours per year. * Develop and implement a Biblical Archaeology Minor including supporting a trip for students to an archaeological field school in Israel every summer. * Develop, implement, evaluate, and revise assigned course curriculum, teaching-learning practices, assessment, and program and student learning outcomes. * Contribute to the mission of the University beyond the classroom through activities such as committee work and/or leadership of CCU2theWorld mission trips. * Use a variety of best-practice teaching-learning strategies, including technology, to enhance classroom instruction. Evaluate student achievement of learning outcomes related to knowledge and competency. * Maintain established office hours and be available to individual students for formal consultations and informal mentoring. * Engage in professional organization activities and scholarly work including, but not limited to, publications and presentations. * Grow in commitment and effectiveness in the integration of Christian faith and learning. * Contribute to the development of a Christ-centered community of learners and scholars within the School of Theology and College of Undergraduate Studies. * Commit to exemplary academics, personal spiritual growth, and engagement with the world. Perform other duties as identified and/or assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
* Ph.D. in Biblical Archaeology or a closely related field, such as ancient cartography or Assyriology. * Passion for higher education, commitment to growth in teaching, and dedication to student success * Record of peer-reviewed publication and involvement in professional activities commensurate with the duration of time since earning a doctorate. * History of ministry experience in a local church or parachurch organization. * Professional teaching demeanor and attire are required.
